 1. 4th edition of Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) ranking of states announced recently by the Department of Industrial Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The top states under State Reform Action Plan 2019 are: 1. Andhra Pradesh, 2. Uttar Pradesh, 3. Telangana Meetings of the SCO defence ministers and foreign ministers were recently held in Russia. SCO is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation. It’s creation was announced on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai (China). 3.The General Assembly of United Nations on 19 December 2019 adopted a resolution to observe the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies on 07th September every year starting from 2020. The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) worked with UNEP and the Republic of Korea to advocate for the day in the lead up to the decision. In 2014, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was launched which currently tracks the levels of pollution on eight parameters. These parameters are ground-level ozone, Particulate Matter (PM) 10, PM 2.5, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ammonia and lead. 4. Kesavananda Bharati, the man who lent his name to an iconic case as the petitioner, died. The landmark ruling in which the Supreme Court announced the basic structure doctrine was in the case of His Holiness Kesavananda Bharati Sripadagalvaru and Ors v State of Kerala. The case was primarily about the extent of Parliament’s power to amend the Constitution. The Constitutional Bench ruled by a 7-6 verdict that Parliament should be restrained from altering the ‘basic structure’ of the Constitution. 5. NITI Aayog is in the last stage for preparation of Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) parameter dashboard and a State Reform Action Plan (SRAP). NITI Aayog is the Nodal agency for the MPI. Global MPI is an international measure of multidimensional poverty. It was first developed in 2010 by Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for UNDP’s Human Development Reports. India is 62nd among 107 countries with an MPI score of 0.123 6. India has become the fourth country after the United States, Russia and China to develop and successfully test hypersonic technology. India recently tested the Hypersonic Test Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV). Developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). HSTDV is an unmanned scramjet demonstration aircraft that can travel at hypersonic speed. It uses hypersonic air-breathing scramjet technology.   7. Noted broadcaster Sir David Attenborough to be presented with Indira Gandhi peace prize 2019. The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development was instituted in the memory of the former prime minister by a trust in her name in 1986. It consists of a monetary award of Rs 25 lakh along with a citation. 8. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data, India’s foreign exchange (forex) reserves touched a record high of USD 541.431 billion. Foreign exchange reserves are assets denominated in a foreign currency that are held on reserve by a central bank. These may include foreign currencies, bonds, treasury bills and other government securities.  Forex reserves are external assets accumulated by India and controlled by the RBI in the form of: Gold, SDRs (special drawing rights of the International Monetary Fund – IMF), Foreign currency assets , Reserve Position with IMF. 9. Recently the Director General of Forests has advocated for the amendment of National Forest Policy, 1988. India’s forests are currently governed by the National Forest Policy, 1988. Other Legislations that Govern Indian Forests: Indian Forest Act 1927, Forest Conservation Act 1980, Wildlife Protection Act 1972. 10. ‘Health in India’ report: Published by National Statistical Organisation (NSO). Among States, Manipur (75%), Andhra Pradesh (73.6%) and Mizoram (73.4%) recorded the highest rates of full immunisation. 11. First World Solar Technology Summit (WSTS) was organized on 8th September, 2020 by The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), as the convenor of ISA Global Leadership Task Force on Innovation, worked with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in organizing the summit. 12. International Literacy Day (ILD) is celebrated on 8th September every year all over the world. Theme for 2020: “Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond”. India’s average literacy rate is 77.7%. Andhra Pradesh’s literacy rate of 66.4% is the worst among all states in India and significantly lower than Bihar’s 70.9%. Kerala has the best literacy rate with 96.2%. Delhi stood second with 88.7%. 13. The centuries old tradition of Rogan art (hand painting on cloth), is facing an unprecedented challenge due to pandemic. This rare craft is practised by a lone Muslim family, the Khatris of Nirona Village, Gujarat. Other Important Painting Styles of India: Kangra Miniature Painting (Himachal Pradesh), Pattachitra Painting (Odisha), Kishangarh school of Painting (Rajasthan), Kalamkari Painting (Andhra Pradesh), Madhubani Painting (Bihar), Warli Painting (Maharashtra). 14. The Prime Minister has inaugurated the Patrika Gate in Jaipur (Rajasthan) through video conferencing. The construction of Patrika Gate was in keeping with Jaipur having recently been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. India has 38 world heritage sites, including 30 cultural properties, 7 natural properties and 1 mixed site.In 2019, Jaipur became the second city of the country after Ahmedabad to get the recognition. 15. Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana launched: It is a scheme for focused and sustainable development of fisheries sector in the country. The scheme focuses on beneficiary-oriented activities in Marine, Inland fisheries and Aquaculture. 16. PM recently inaugurated Rashtriya Gokul Mission: It is to conserve and develop indigenous bovine breeds, government launched ‘Rashtriya Gokul Mission’ in 2014 under the National Programme for Bovine Breeding and Dairy Development (NPBBD). 17. South India’s 1st and country’s 2nd Kisan Train: Inaugural run of the train flagged off.  It runs between Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) and New Delhi. On 7th August, the first Kisan Rail was flagged off between Devlali in Maharashtra and Danapur in Bihar. 18. The Indian Air Force will formally induct the Rafale aircraft on 10th September 2020. The aircraft will be part of 17 Squadron, the “Golden Arrows”. Rafale is a French twin-engine and multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation being produced for both the French Air Force and for carrier-based operations in the French Navy. India is the fourth country to have the strategic platform with Rafale after France, Egypt and Qatar. 19. Recently, the Union Cabinet approved a new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy in the defence sector which allows the FDI through automatic approval to be increased from 49% to 74%. FDI is an investment made by a firm or individual in one country into business interests located in another country. It is different from Foreign Portfolio Investment where the foreign entity merely buys equity shares of a company. FPI does not provide the investor with control over the business. 20. Recently, Korean Peninsula and Japan were hit by two typhoons named Maysak and Haishen. Typhoons are a kind of storm. The storms, depending on where they occur, may be called hurricanes, typhoons or cyclones.

 1.NITI Aayog has released a review report on Poshan Abhiyaan. The programme seeks to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Launched in 2018 with specific targets to be achieved by 2022. The target of the mission is to bring down stunting among children in the age group 0-6 years from 38.4% to 25% by 2022. 2. China sold negative-yield debt for the first time. These are debt instruments that offer to pay the investor a maturity amount lower than the purchase price of the bond. Can be issued by central banks or governments.Here, investors pay interest to the borrower to keep their money with them. 3. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued an order under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act blocking access to 43 mobile apps.Section 69A of the IT Act, empowers the Central Government to order that access to certain websites and computer resources be blocked in the interest of the defense of the country, its sovereignty and integrity, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order or for preventing incitement to the commission of an offence. 4. The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the Essential Services Maintenance Act in the State, banning strikes in all departments and corporations under it for a period of another six months. It was established to ensure the delivery of certain services, which if obstructed would affect the normal life of the people.These include services like public transport (bus services), health services (doctors and hospitals). 5. Mega Food Park inaugurated in Punjab. Ministry of Food Processing Industries is implementing Mega Food Park Scheme in the country since 2008.It aims at providing a mechanism to link agricultural production to the market by bringing together farmers, processors and retailers. 6. France is keen on joining the India-Australia bilateral naval exercise AUSINDEX. AUSINDEX (Australia India Exercise) is a bilateral maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Royal Australian Navy. 7. Constitution day which is also known as the Samvidhan Divas is celebrated every year on November 26 to mark the day on which the Constitution of India was adopted. While the adoption of the Constitution took place on November 26, 1949, it came into effect on January 26, 1950. 8. PM recently again pitched for ‘One Nation, One Election’, saying it is the need of the country as elections taking place every few months hamper development works. It refers to holding elections to Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, Panchayats and Urban local bodies simultaneously, once in five year. 9. 3rd Global Renewable Energy Investment Meeting and Expo (RE-Invest 2020) was inaugurated recently.The summit is organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The theme for 2020 is ‘Innovations for Sustainable Energy Transition’. India’s renewable power capacity is the 4th largest in the world and is growing at the fastest speed among all major countries. 10. India’s first Member of Parliament to have been disqualified from the Lok Sabha has now been disqualified as an MLA in Mizoram.Its a part of Anti defection law, The Tenth Schedule (Anti defection law) was inserted in the Constitution in 1985 by the 52nd Amendment Act. It lays down the process by which legislators may be disqualified on grounds of defection by the Presiding Officer of a legislature based on a petition by any other member of the House. The law applies to both Parliament and state assemblies. Decisions under the Tenth Schedule should be made by the President/ Governor on the binding advice of the Election Commission. 11. Vietnam has invited India for ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM Plus) being hosted by Vietnam in December 2020. The ADMM-Plus is a platform for ASEAN and its eight Dialogue Partners to strengthen security and defence cooperation for peace, stability, and development in the region. 12. The Union Government’s fiscal deficit further widened to ₹9.53 lakh crore, or close to 120% of the annual budget estimate, at the end of October of the current fiscal. Fiscal deficit,It is the difference between the Revenue Receipts plus Non-debt Capital Receipts (NDCR) and the total expenditure. In other words, fiscal deficit is “reflective of the total borrowing requirements of Government”. If the fiscal deficit ratio is too high, it implies that there is a lesser amount of money left in the market for private entrepreneurs and businesses to borrow. 13. National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), The government had set up the ₹40,000 crore NIIF in 2015 as an investment vehicle for funding commercially viable greenfield, brownfield and stalled infrastructure projects. The Indian government is investing 49% and the rest of the corpus is to be raised from third-party investors such as sovereign wealth funds, insurance and pension funds, endowments, etc. 14. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Uttar Pradesh has bagged the first international award, TX2, among the 13 tiger ranging countries for having doubled the number of tigers in less than the stipulated time. TX2, It is the global award which was set up in 2010 in St. Petersburg, Russia by international organizations working for tiger conservation like WWF, UNDP, IUCN, Global Tiger Fund (GTF), CATS and The Lion’s Share. 15. India set to build Shahtoot Dam in Afghanistan, provide drinking water for 2 million residents of Kabul. The dam would come upon the Maidan river tributary of Kabul river.

 1. Hurricane Iota has made landfall in Nicaragua in Central America and has developed into a category five storm. Tropical cyclones or hurricanes use warm, moist air as fuel, and therefore form over warm ocean waters near the equator. Storms that form towards the north of the equator rotate counterclockwise, while those that form to the south spin clockwise because of the rotation of the Earth. 2.A Supreme Court Bench headed by Chief Justice of India S A Bobde has observed that it is “trying to discourage” individuals from filing petitions under Article 32 of the Constitution. Article 32 deals with the ‘Right to Constitutional Remedies’, or affirms the right to move the Supreme Court by appropriate proceedings for the enforcement of the rights conferred in Part III of the Constitution. 3.Article 363-A was inserted in the Constitution (Twenty-sixth Amendment) Act, 1971. This amendment is best known for abolition of Privy Purse. 4. Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM): It is a short range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, primarily designed and developed by DRDO to provide a protective shield to moving armoured columns of the Army from enemy aerial attacks. 5. The Jammu and Kashmir administration is in in the process of implementing the Forest Rights Act of 2006 “to grant the rights to forest dwellers.The Forest Rights Act of 2006 provides for granting of rights to forest dwellers across the country. It was not applicable or implemented in J&K till 31st October, 2019. 6. Madhya Pradesh government has decided to set up a ‘Gau Cabinet’ for the protection and promotion of cattle. The Animal Husbandry, Forest, Panchayat and Rural Development, Revenue, Home and Farmers’ Welfare Departments would be part of the Cabinet. 7. Rajasthan Government has launched a maternity benefit scheme for four districts under which mothers will get ₹6,000 for the second child. This Scheme will be called Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana. This will supplement the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) under which mothers get ₹5,000 for their first child. 8. The first meeting between India and Luxembourg in 20 years was held recently. India also invited Luxembourg to join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). 9. The latest Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum was held online this year because of the pandemic. APEC, It is a regional economic forum established in 1989 to leverage the growing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific. Global information technology service provider Atos has announced that PARAM Siddhi – AI has been ranked 63 on the TOP500 ranking. This makes it India’s largest and fastest Supercomputer. 11. The Government is preparing for the nationwide launch of the National Digital Health Mission. The scheme was rolled out through a pilot launch in the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep. It is a digital health ecosystem under which every Indian citizen will now have unique health IDs, digitised health records with identifiers for doctors and health facilities. 12. scientists have now discovered another deadly virus, known as the Chapare virus, in Bolivia. The Chapare hemorrhagic fever (CHHF) is caused by the same arenavirus family that is responsible for illnesses such as the Ebola virus disease (EVD). 13. Scottish author Douglas Stuart has been awarded the 2020 Booker Prize for his acclaimed debut novel Shuggie Bain, set in his home city of Glasgow. The Booker Prize is the leading literary award in the English speaking world. The Prize is awarded annually for a single book, translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland. 14. World Fisheries Day:Celebrated on 21st November every year to demonstrate solidarity with all fisherfolk, fish farmers and concerned stakeholders throughout the world. 15. India will soon launch an ambitious ‘Deep Ocean Mission’. The mission proposes to explore the deep ocean similar to the space exploration started by ISRO about 35 years ago. The focus of the mission will be on deep-sea mining, ocean climate change advisory services, underwater vehicles and underwater robotics related technologies 16. Kerala Government has introduced Section 118A in the Kerala Police Act, to penalise ‘offensive,’ ‘abusive,’ and ‘threatening’ social media posts. A similar law was repealed by the Supreme Court in 2015 along with Section 66A of the IT Act — Section 118(d) of the Kerala Police Act —  for being a threat to free speech. 17. SITMEX-20:It is a trilateral naval exercise between India, Thailand and Singapore. The latest edition was held in the Andaman sea. 18. To commemorate the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), which aims to provide “Housing for All” by 2022, it was decided to celebrate 20th November every year as “Awaas Diwas”.

1.National Education Day on November 11, the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad to honor his contributions to education in India. He served as the first Minister of Education of independent India. Azad was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1992 for his contributions towards the field of education. 2. India is likely to press Biden Administration for early restoration of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) trade privilege for India. It is a U.S. trade program designed to promote economic growth in the developing world by providing preferential duty-free entry for up to 4,800 products from 129 designated beneficiary countries and territories. The objective of GSP was to give development support to poor countries by promoting exports from them into the developed countries. 3. Jharkhand government has passed a resolution to send the Centre a letter to recognise Sarna religion and include it as a separate code in the Census of 2021. It is believed that 50 lakhs tribal in the entire country put their religion as ‘Sarna’ in the 2011 census, although it was not a code. 4. The government has brought “Over the Top” (OTT) platforms or video streaming service providers under the ambit of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This will give the government control over the OTT platforms, which were unregulated till now. Currently, there is no law or autonomous body governing digital content. An “over-the-top” media service is any online content provider that offers streaming media as a standalone product. 5. Madhya Pradesh’s Panna National Park has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The UNESCO’s recognition cited PTR as a critical tiger habitat.The idea of the biosphere reserve was initiated by UNESCO in 1974 under the MAB with the objective of obtaining international cooperation for the conservation of the biospheres. Launched in 1971, UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) is an Intergovernmental Scientific Programme that aims to establish a scientific basis for the improvement of relationships between people and their environments. The first of India’s reserves to make it to UNESCO’s list was Tamil Nadu’s Niligiri Biosphere Reserve in 2000. Ken-Betwa river interlinking project will be located within the tiger reserve. 6. India has made significant progress in its vaccination coverage to prevent child pneumonia and diarrhoea deaths. India has also completed the “100-day agenda” — an unprecedented national scale-up of rotavirus vaccine. This landmark vaccine expansion will help protect 26 million children born each year against life-threatening cases of rotavirus diarrhoea. 7. India and ASEAN countries said they would explore ways to increase trade between them despite India’s exit from the 15-nation Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership is a free trade agreement originally devised to consist of 16 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. The pact looks to drop tariffs and duties between the members so that goods and services can flow freely between them. 8. Indian Navy’s fifth Kalvari-class Diesel Electric attack submarine INS Vagir was launched recently at Mazgaon Dock in Mumbai. This class of submarines have Diesel Electric transmission systems and these are primarily attack submarines or ‘hunter-killer’ type which means they are designed to target and sink adversary naval vessels.They can be used in anti-warship and anti-submarine operations, intelligence gathering and surveillance and naval mine laying. 9. 2018 report on “Vital statistics of India based on the Civil Registration System”: The report was published recently by the Registrar-General of India. It throws light on Sex Ratios of various states in the country. State with best Sex Ratio: Arunachal Pradesh (1084). Worst: Manipur (757). 10. The European Space Agency (ESA) has formally adopted Ariel. Ariel (Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey) will be launched in 2029. Ariel is the first mission of its kind dedicated to measuring the chemical composition and thermal structures of hundreds of exoplanets. 11. PM Narendra Modi unveils `Statue of Peace` in Rajasthan.  1.The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has allowed Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp to start its payments service in the country in a ‘graded’ manner. Unified Payments Interface or UPI is an immediate real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI). It was introduced in April 2016 as a pilot project and is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). 2.National Monsoon mission Launched by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) in 2012. Aim to develop a state-of-the-art, dynamic monsoon prediction system for short, medium, and long-range forecasts. 3. Government weeds out 4.39 crore bogus ration cards under NFSA since 2013. National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013: The objective is to provide for food and nutritional security in human life cycle approach, by ensuring access to adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices to people to live a life with dignity. 4. EOS-01 launch. This will be ISRO’s first mission since the launch of RISAT-2BR1, on December 11 last year. It is an earth observation satellite. EOS-01 is nothing but another Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT) that will work together with RISAT-2B and RISAT-2BR1 launched last year. 5. Democrat Joe Biden has been declared the winner of the 2020 US presidential election. Much before he became Vice President in the Barack Obama administration, Biden had advocated a stronger relationship with India. 6. Atal Beemit (Bimit) Vyakti Kalyan Yojana: It aims to financially support those who lost their jobs or rendered jobless for whatsoever reasons due to changing employment pattern. 7. The Fifteenth Finance Commission led by Chairman N K Singh, submitted its Report to the President of India. The Finance Commission is a constitutionally mandated body that is at the centre of fiscal federalism. Set up under Article 280 of the Constitution. 8. After news of a highly effective Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 and Saudi Arabia’s assurance that an OPEC+ oil output deal could be adjusted to balance the market, Oil prices have jumped. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was founded in Baghdad, Iraq. It is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. OPEC membership is open to any country that is a substantial exporter of oil and which shares the ideals of the organization. 9. Andhra Pradesh government recently said that it is planning to complete the Polavaram project by 2022. The dam is being built across the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh. The project is a multipurpose major terminal reservoir project for development of Irrigation, Hydropower and drinking water facilities.

1.Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was Observed on 31st October across the nation. It marks the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. 2. Typhoon Rolly or Goni has hit Philippines. In the North Atlantic Ocean and Northeast Pacific, they are called hurricanes. But if the same type of disturbance takes place in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, it is known as a typhoon. And in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean, cyclone is the correct term. 3.Army Aviation Corps (AAC) celebrated its 35th Corps Day on November 1. It is the youngest Corps of the Indian Army. The AAC currently operates Chetak, Cheetah, Lancer, Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, and ALH Weapon System Integrated (WSI), also known as Rudra.  4. Writer Paul Zacharia has been selected for the 28th Ezhuthachan Puraskaram. Instituted in 1993, it is the highest literary honour of the Kerala government. Given by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi. 5. PM Modi recently inaugurated 17 tourism projects around the Statue of Unity (SoU), now called the ‘Kevadia Tourism Circuit’. Kevadia is a village in the tribal Narmada district. It is home to the Sardar Sarovar Dam reservoir on the Narmada river. 6. Mansar Lake Development Plan in Jammu and Kashmir was inaugurated recently. Surinsar-Mansar Lakes are designated as Ramsar Convention in November 2005. 7. Ammonia levels in the Yamuna river, flowing into Delhi from Haryana, had reached nearly 3 parts per million (ppm) on Thursday, almost six times above the acceptable limit of 0.5ppm. The acceptable maximum limit of ammonia in drinking water, as per the Bureau of Indian Standards, is 0.5 ppm. 8. Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi  Pariyojana  scheme seeks to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses through special kendra’s known as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra. Initially launched in 2008, the scheme was rechristened in 2015. 9. Six new sites apart from the Kuno-Palpur Wildlife Sanctuary were identified under Project Lion that was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2020. Lions are found in Gujarat across an area of 30,000 sq km called the Asiatic Lion Landscape (ALL). Its population is restricted to the state of Gujarat in India (Gir National Park). 10. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved funding to the tune of ₹1,810.56 crore for the 210 megawatt (MW) Luhri hydropower project on the Satluj river in Himachal Pradesh.

World Polio Day was established by Rotary International on 24th October to celebrate the birth of Jonas Salk, who developed a vaccine against poliomyelitis. 2.India and the U.S. will sign the last foundational agreement, Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-Spatial cooperation (BECA) during the upcoming 2+2 ministerial dialogue. This agreement would facilitate exchange of geospatial information between India and United States for both military and civilian use. 3. IndiGen Program: Genomics for Public Health in India (IndiGen) , It aims to undertake whole genome sequencing of thousands of individuals representing diverse ethnic groups from India. The objective is to enable genetic epidemiology and develop public health technologies applications using population genome data. 4. The United Kingdom has entered into a strategic partnership to develop India’s fledgling international financial services centre GIFT City. GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City), located in Gandhinagar is India’s first International Financial Services Centre. 5. The Centre has asked the Punjab Government to explain its utilisation of the Rural Development Fund (RDF) that it gets largely from the Food Corporation of India (FCI). This has enraged the state government. RDF is the 3 per cent cess levied on the purchase or sale of agricultural produce under the Rural Development Fund Act, 1987 which is executed by Punjab Rural Development Board (PRDB) with the Chief Minister as its chairman. 6. It has been planned as an ‘All Weather, All Cargo’ satellite port to enhance capabilities in handling deep draft ships and larger vessels.
