Due to dense fog in the national capital, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for Delhi. The Delhi airport alarmed all its passengers.

The weather department in its advisory remarked that ‘Dense to very dense fog at many places, cold day to severe cold day conditions at a few places and cold day conditions at isolated places.’

The International Meteorological Department applies four colour codes for weather warnings – green (no action needed), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (be prepared), and red (take action).

Generally, the IMD holds a ‘cold wave’ when the minimum temperature reached to 4.5 degrees or more below the normal mark, or when it drops to 4 degrees or lower.

The minimum temperature is settled below 2 degrees, while the maximum at 17 degrees Celsius.

Lowest minimum temperature recorded:

As cold wave extends to grip north and northwest India, the minimum temperature in several districts of states and Union territories spread across this region were recorded at the season’s lowest.

In Delhi lowest temperature has been recorded at 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Several places in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh experienced the minimum temperature plunge near freezing points amid icy conditions.

 

Adverse effect:

As the cold wave remains schools are slowly extending winter vacations to ensure that students remain safe in their homes.

Administration department of several states like Delhi, Bihar, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand etc. has ordered to close the schools for some days due to cold wave.

Citizens are remaining in their homes until necessary work is not upheld.

Even IMD has also issued guidelines and advisory for every person.
